Most scrap metal can be recycled into new and useful metal products, with the method varying depending on the material. The process is essential for providing secondary raw materials for metals manufacturing and helps to reduce the mining of precious natural sources, as well as reduces the amount of greenhouse gases produced during productions.
You can do your part by ensuring you choose a licensed and reputable company like Get It Gone in Worthing, for responsible scrap metal and scrap car disposal.
Not only is using our service easy, cost-effective and straight forward, we also make sure all the cars and scrap metal we collect are disposed of in a safe, environmentally-friendly and legal way. We rescue any components that can be re-used, re-sold or recycled, whilst the unsalvageable parts are disposed of responsibly. When should I scrap my car?
If your car is a write off, is no longer worth taxing or is a failed project, having it collected and scrapped is often a cost-effective solution. Many motorists also consider scrap car disposal if their vehicle is no longer safe to drive or is costing too much on repairs and maintenance. Contact our team for advice on scrapping your vehicle if you’re unsure.
What are the End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) regulations?
The ELV regulations were introduced in the UK in 2003 and are designed to reduce the impact that scrap cars have on the environment. They apply to scrap cars and vans which have a gross vehicle weight of up to 3,500kg. As members of the Environment Agency and a licensed rubbish clearance carrier, you can trust Get It Gone to comply with ELV regulations.
Where does my car go after you collect it?
At Get It Gone, we have excellent connections with Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) in the area. We transport vehicles to these sites to be recycled and disposed of responsibly. A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) will be issued to the DVLA to absolve you of any further responsibility of the vehicle. After being stripped, the remaining vehicle is crushed into a cube known as a bale and then shredded into smaller pieces which are passed along a conveyor. Magnets then draw out heavy steels and ferrous materials to separate the metals.
Remember, we also collect scrap metal from locations throughout West Sussex. Areas we cover include our hometown of Worthing and the nearby Brighton and Chichester areas.
Our team are able to travel to all areas within and around our base location in Worthing, including Brighton, Chichester, Horsham and more.
